Create Custom ESXi 5.0 ISO with Dell OpenManage

Last Updated: 11/7/11

First, download the ESXi 5.0 Offline bundle installer .zip package from vmware.com. Follow the normal download process for vSphere 5.0. At the very last download page you should have about six files to choose from. I choose the offline bundle that included software iSCSI. file name was: "ESXi500-201111001_offline.zip"

Also, download (from vmware.com) the vSphere Power CLI 5.0 and install it on your vCenter server

Then, download the Dell OpenManage 6.5 VIB file from this page:
http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/OpenManage+Support+for+VMware+ESX+5.0

Direct Link: http://en.community.dell.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/communityserver-components-postattachments/00-19-92-89-75/Dell_5F00_OpenManage_5F00_ESXi_5F00_OM650_2D00_offline_5F00_bundle_2D00_467660.zip

Then follow these video instructions:

NOTE: This video is for a different driver, so please substitute the Dell OpenManage 6.5 VIB where appropriate.

Once the ISO image is created, you should be able to import into update manager or use to install directly from the CDROM drive.
