We had a Cisco switch WS-C3750G12-S fail from bad capacitors. They were visibly leaking when the switch was opened. The ports 1,2,5,6,9,10 were all affected, but not the other ports. Affected ports randomly go down and then come back online a few seconds later. Line protocol was intermittent and would go down randomly. Also Random input errors.
syslog entries looked like this:
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/0/6, changed state to down
%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface GigabitEthernet2/0/6, changed state to up
Also these ports normally had 0 input errors, but after the switch starting failing inputs errors started to accumulate. You can only see one leaking capacitor in the pictures, but all the capacitors in that row are very swollen. See pictures below:
