In Windows Server 2008 R2 the task scheduler is a lot different and the terminology is sometimes difficult to understand.
if you want to be able to troubleshoot a scheduled task then you need it to run interactively with the user session. You also need to use the same credentials as the console user. make sure you check the box, "Run only when user is logged on". This will allow the task to display and not be hidden while running. After you troubleshoot, make sure to change it back.
also, if you have UAC (User Account Control) turned on, be sure to check the box, "Run with highest privileges".
