Shopping for a Laptop - Quick Cheatsheet
Last Updated: 3/11/21If you are shopping for a Windows laptop and you are not super tech saavy, the table below (in image format) might be helpful. I typically recommend Level 2 for smaller budgets and Level 3 for people who can afford it. Level 4 people probably already know what they want and won't be reading this article.
My quick thoughts on Big Brands:
Dell and HP: Very mainstream brands. Their reputation can be good or bad depending on who you ask. They tend to be a known quantity with consistent results.
Acer: Typically lower cost than some other brands. Quality can some times be an issue. Expect mixed results.
Lenovo: They have improved their reputation in the industry and are a decent option. My last purchase was Lenovo, but I think the webcam hardware is failing.
Higher end / Gaming brands: ASUS, MSI, Alienware, etc...
This article (https://www.justwebworld.com/computer-brands-manufacturers/) ranks brands. I would put HP next to Dell and Lenovo.
