If you cannot connect to your ESX box using the vmware infrastructure client or from vSphere then follow these instructions.
On the ESX console run these commands:
service vmware-webAccess status (this command will tell you if the service is started)
service vmware-webAccess start (this command will start the service)
Now you should be able to connect again using vmware infrastructure client or vCenter.
Also, it is always a good idea to have your really important virtual servers startup automatically with ESX.
